467 hospitalised with dengue

Bangladesh recorded three more dengue-related deaths and 467 fresh infections in the past 24 hours, pushing the country’s death toll to 53 and the total number of reported cases to 15,157 this year, according to the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS).

Dengue infections continued to rise across the country as health authorities confirmed three more fatalities and hundreds of new hospital admissions over the past day.

According to a DGHS statement issued on Thursday, 467 patients were hospitalised with dengue during the 24-hour reporting period. Among the newly admitted patients, 67 were hospitalised in Barishal division, 69 in Chattogram division, 70 in Dhaka division, 57 in Dhaka South City Corporation (DSCC), 62 in Dhaka North City Corporation (DNCC).

66 in Khulna division, 21 in Mymensingh division, 32 in Rajshahi division, 20 in Rangpur division, and three in Sylhet division.

With the latest figures, the number of dengue cases reported across Bangladesh this year has reached 15,157, while the death toll has climbed to 53.

Bangladesh experienced a severe dengue outbreak last year, when the mosquito-borne disease claimed 413 lives and infected 102,861 people.

In 2024, dengue killed 575 people and infected 101,214 across the country, according to official figures.
