Runa Laila’s famous song in Coke Studio Bangla

Legendary singer of the subcontinent Runa Laila has sung in a total of 18 languages including Bengali, Hindi, Punjabi, Urdu, and English in her long 60 years of musical career. One of her timeless songs is ‘Dama Dum Mast Kalandar’. Finally, the song will be heard anew on Coke Studio Bangla. It was released on the platform’s YouTube channel on Sunday evening.
Ever since the third season of Coke Studio Bangla was announced, there have been rumours that Runa Laila will be singing this time. Although the authorities have been silent about the matter since the beginning. Last year, the artiste herself confirmed the news of her participation, but did not reveal anything about the song.
However, ending all speculation, the teaser of the song was released on November 14 and it was announced that the full song would be released on Wednesday evening. Although the recording of the song was completed long ago, it took so long to release it as Coke Studio Bangla’s activities were closed for almost a year.
Two years ago, Runa Laila performed this song with the Coke Studio team at a domestic event in Kolkata. Coke Studio Bangla’s music curator Shayan Chowdhury Arnab and composer Shuvendu Das Shuvo and many others were present at the event.
It is worth noting that today (November 17) is Runa Laila’s birthday. Coke Studio Bangla is releasing this special song just before her birthday to pay tribute to the legendary artiste.
