Bangladesh in qtr-finals of Hong Kong Sixes

Bangladesh reached the quarterfinals of the Hong Kong Sixes after defeating Sri Lanka by 14 runs in their second Pool-D match at Mong Kok in Hong Kong on Friday.

Sent into bat first, Bangladesh piled up a fighting total of 75 runs for the loss of six wickets in the allotted six overs and then all out Sri Lanka for 61 off 5.1 overs.
Bangladesh had a sorrow start as they lost opener Jishan Alam (0) when Bangladesh’s score was 14 for the loss of one wicket.

Opener Habibur Rahman hit a fine 21. His seven-ball innings was belted with two fours and two sixes.

One-down Akbar Ali hit a captain’s knock of 32. His nine-ball knock was laced with four sixes and two fours.

Mosaddek Hossain remained unbeaten with eight runs. He hit one four in his six-ball innings.
Abu Hider and Tofael Ahmed added six and five runs respectively to the Bangladesh total.
Tharindu Rathnayake, Lahiru Samarakoon and Dhananjaya Lakshan took one wicket each conceding 12, 14 and 20 runs respectively.

Dhananjaya Lakshan, Lahiru Samarakoon and Thanuka Dabare added 18, 13 and 12 runs to the Sri Lanka total.

Mosaddek Hossain played the key role in demolishing Sri Lanka innings grabbing three wickets for 20 runs. Mosaddek Hossain was adjudged the Man of the Match.

Tofael Ahmed and Abu Hider picked up one wicket each giving eight and 15 runs respectively.
The first Pool-D match between Bangladesh and Hong Kong was abandoned due to rain on the same day.

Bangladesh will face off Australia in the quarter-final today at the same venue.
