Aman paddy bumper yield in Sylhet

Sylhet district has witnessed a bumper yield of Aman paddy this time. The golden paddy ears are now shining like the dreams of farmers across the fields of 13 upazilas of the district.

The local agriculture department said that this year’s Aman cultivation has been very successful due to favorable weather, timely rainfall and proper advice from the agriculture department.

On-site inspection showed that Aman paddy has taken on a yellow color in the haor lands of most areas of the district.

Aman paddy harvesting will begin within the next 2 to 3 weeks. However, harvesting of early varieties of Aman paddy has begun in some areas.

According to the District Agriculture Office, a target of 1,45,310 hectares of land has been set for Aman paddy in Sylhet this season.

Local sources have informed that Aman paddy harvesting will begin in full swing in various areas of Sylhet within the next 2 weeks. The farmers are now full of satisfaction due to the good harvest.

Ahmed Ali, a farmer from South Surma, expressed his satisfaction and said, “This year’s harvest has been very good.

The harvest is much higher than the previous year. Since the weather is good, there has been no attack of harmful insects. By the grace of God, we are all very happy this time.”

The Agriculture Department also said that they will start preparing for the planting of the Rabi crop immediately after the end of the Aman season.

The Agriculture Department is strongly optimistic that this bumper harvest will provide financial relief to local farmers and will also have a positive impact on the local economy.
