Three Killed in Tangail Road Crash

Three people, including a woman, were killed and 12 others injured in a road accident involving a bus and a truck on the Dhaka-Tangail highway in the Baikhola area under Basail upazila on Wednesday afternoon. All the victims were passengers of the bus.

The accident occurred around 2:30 PM. The identities of the deceased and injured could not be confirmed immediately.

According to police and local sources, a passenger bus of Bhai Bhai Paribahan was heading towards Dhaka from Tarakandi in Jamalpur. When the bus reached Baikhola, it tried to overtake a truck moving in the same direction. At that moment, it collided head-on with another rod-laden truck coming from the opposite direction.

One woman died on the spot. Police rescued 14 injured passengers and sent them to Tangail General Hospital, where two of them were declared dead by the on-duty doctors.

Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Basail Police Station Md Jalal Uddin said efforts are underway to identify the deceased. The bodies will be handed over to their families following legal procedures.
