Foreign Adviser Md Touhid Hossain pushed Dhaka’s priorities on Palestine, Least Developed Countries (LDC), and bilateral ties with Uzbekistan during a series of events held on the sidelines of the UNGA session.
At the OIC Foreign Minister’s coordination meeting, Hossain called for urgent international action to end Israel’s occupation and violence in Palestine and pressed for reforms and resource mobilisation to make the OIC’s Ten-Year Programme of Action more effective, Foreign Ministry said on Saturday.
At the LDC Ministerial Meeting convened on the sidelines of the 80th UNGA High-Level Week at the UN Headquarters on Friday, Hossain urged faster implementation of the Doha Programme of Action, warning that multiple global crises were underlining the prospects of vulnerable economies.
He called for greater international support, reform of the international financial architecture, enhanced climate finance, and measures to ensure sustainable and irreversible graduation of LDCs.
The back-to-back meetings underscored Dhaka’s bid to raise its profile at the UN by combining strong positions on global issues with steps to deepen bilateral partnerships.
