Home Adviser: DUCSU can be model for national polls

Home Affairs Adviser Lieutenant General (Retd.) Md. Jahangir Alam Chowdhury has said that as voters are casting their votes spontaneously in the DUCSU election, this election can serve as a model for the national election.

He said this on Tuesday at a press conference following the 13th meeting of the Advisory Committee on Law and Order held in the conference room of the Ministry of Home Affairs at the Secretariat.

The Home Affairs Adviser said that a conducive environment is prevailing in the country. “We don’t see any obstacles to the upcoming national election. After a long time, an electoral atmosphere has been created, and since the DUCSU election is being held in a festive and fair manner, it will have an impact on the national election as well.”

He said that with the kind of security measures taken by the law enforcement agencies, the DUCSU election was successfully completed.
He further said that law enforcement agencies are also being prepared for the national election. Their training programs are ongoing.

The Adviser stated that recently there have been more drug seizures in the country. Law enforcement agencies have been instructed to remain more vigilant to stop the entry of drugs into the country.

He said, “Drugs are the biggest enemy of our society. We must eradicate them; otherwise, our young generation will be harmed. Everyone must come forward in this regard and remain aware.”

The Home Affairs Adviser also said that this time hilsa breeding has decreased somewhat, though it may increase in the future. To prevent the decline in hilsa breeding and to stop the catching of mother hilsa and jatka (hilsa fry), instructions have been given to law enforcement agencies.
