No change in 12 Oct Hajj reg deadline

The government has announced that the 12 October deadline for preliminary Hajj registration for next year will remain unchanged.

In a letter sent to the chairman of the Bangladesh Telecommunication Regulatory Commission (BTRC) on 4 September, the Ministry of Religious Affairs stated that the deadline is aligned with the schedule set by the Saudi authorities and therefore cannot be extended.

The ministry also instructed all mobile operators to send free SMS notifications to Muslim subscribers to ensure wide dissemination of the announcement.

Preliminary registration opened on 27 July with an advance payment of Tk4 lakh, while the remaining balance will be payable once the official Hajj package is declared.

As per the ministry’s circular issued on 10 August, a total of 1,27,198 Bangladeshi pilgrims will be able to perform Hajj in 2026 under both government and private management.

The pilgrimage is expected to be held in the last week of May, subject to the sighting of the moon.
