Zia’s legacy upholds BNP’s popular image: Rizvi

BNP Senior Joint-Secretary General Ruhul Kabir Rizvi on Friday said that BNP continues to be the country’s most popular political party because of the constructive politics of Shaheed President Ziaur Rahman.
Speaking at a discussion meeting in Bogura town marking the party’s 47th founding anniversary, Rizvi said that Shaheed Zia had transformed a famine-stricken Bangladesh into a self-reliant nation through his honesty, dedication, and leadership skills.
“He laid the nation’s foundation. His 19-point programme of positive politics still keeps BNP at the center of people’s support today,” he remarked.
Rizvi further said that BNP has already announced a 31-point action plan to build a happy and prosperous Bangladesh, and if voted to power, the party will implement that programme for the nation’s development.
He also urged BNP leaders and activists to work for the victory of the Chhatra Dal-nominated panel in the upcoming DUCSU elections, alleging that opponents were spreading misinformation, cyberbullying, and threatening female students to weaken Chhatra Dal and left-leaning student organizations.
Criticizing the Dhaka University Vice-Chancellor, Rizvi questioned how such activities could ever win the support of general students. He called upon students to vote for Chhatra Dal candidates in the RUCSU, JUCSU, and CUCSU elections as well.
The discussion was organized by Bogura district BNP at Shaheed Titu Auditorium, with District BNP President Rezaul Karim Badsha in the chair.
Among the special guests were BNP Chairperson’s Advisor Advocate A.K.M. Mahbubar Rahman, Helaluzzaman Talukdar Lalu, Acting General Secretary of District BNP Mosharraf Hossain, former MP Kazi Rafiqul Islam, Zainal Abedin Chan, Ali Azgar Hena, Mahmudur Rahman Sumon, Mahbubul Islam Shopoth, Dr. Lohani, Dr. Zahidul Islam, Dr. Abdul Awal, Shahid Un Nabi Salam, K.M. Khairul Bashar, Zahidul Islam Helal and other prominent leaders of the party.
Earlier in the day, Rizvi released fish fingerlings into the Karatoa River at the SP Bridge area in a programme organized by the district unit of Matsyajibi Dal.
