Nor’wester lashes Rangpur: 1 killed

A minor boy was killed and at least 15 people injured as a nor’wester lashed several upazilas of the district, including the city, on Tuesday evening.
The deceased was identified as Meraj Uddin, 10, son of Motaleb Miah of Jummapara area of the city.
Witnesses said Meraj suffered injuries as a brick from the roof of a building fell on his head during the storm.
He was rushed to Rangpur Medical College Hospital where doctors declared him dead.
Meanwhile, at least 15 people were reported to be injured in different areas of the district. They were admitted to different hospitals and clinics.
Besides, the storm damaged a huge number of houses, paddy fields and uprooted trees and electric poles snapping power supply in Sadar, Gangachara, Mithapakur and Pirgacha upazilas.
