ADSM suspends all committees sans central

Staff Reporter :

All committees of the Anti-Discrimination Student Movement (ADSM) across the country except the central committee have been suspended.
Rifat Rashid, former coordinator and president of the central committee of the student movement, announced this at a press conference on Sunday (July 27).

The announcement follows the recent expulsion of Ibrahim Hossain Munna, convener of SAD’s Dhaka city unit, along with members Sakadoun Siam and Sadman Sadab, citing their involvement in activities deemed detrimental to the party’s principles.

The Anti-Discrimination Student Movement spearheaded the uprising in July-August last year that ousted the autocratic Sheikh Hasina regime.

Later, the platform and the National Citizens’ Committee jointly launched a new political party, the National Citizen Party (NCP), on February 28. Since then, there has been no visible activity of the Anti-Discrimination Student Movement.

“Many people, backed by political parties, are committing crimes,” Rashid said. “No one in the history of Bangladesh has suspended committees across the country accepting responsibility for any crime,” he said.
