KU, KAU discuss academic activities

The Vice-Chancellor of Khulna Agricultural University (KAU), Prof Dr Md Asaduzzaman Sarkar, paid a courtesy call on the Vice-Chancellor of Khulna University (KU), Prof Dr Md Rezaul Karim, at the latter’s office on Monday afternoon.

During the meeting, Prof Karim congratulated Prof Sarkar on his recent appointment and inquired about the university’s overall academic activities, research progress and future development plans.

Prof Sarkar said that, as a relatively new university, Khulna Agricultural University requires institutional support to strengthen its academic, research and infrastructural capacities. He sought technical and institutional cooperation from Khulna University, particularly in expanding laboratory facilities.

He also expressed interest in signing a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between the two universities to promote collaboration in education, research, technology exchange and capacity building.

Welcoming the proposal, Prof Karim said stronger cooperation between the two institutions would help advance academic excellence and research, contributing to the development of higher education and innovation in the country’s south-western region.

Among those present were KUA Treasurer Prof Dr Shamim Ahmed Kamal Uddin Khan; Assistant Professor Dr Israt Jahan Irene of the Department of Agronomy; Assistant Professor Dr Md Nazrul Islam of the Department of Farm Structure and Environmental Engineering; Assistant Professor Dr Md Mehedi Alam of the Department of Fisheries Resources Conservation and Management; and Assistant Professor Md Johurul Islam of the Department of Agricultural Economics.

The meeting concluded with positive discussions on future joint initiatives in education, research, innovation and human resource development between the two universities.
