S’pore contacted for treatment of burn victims

Adviser for Labour, Employment and Shipping, Brigadier General (Retd.) Dr. M Sakhawat Hossain, has said that contact has been made with Singapore regarding the treatment of burn victims injured in the Bangladesh Air Force training aircraft crash at Milestone School and College in Uttara, Dhaka. If necessary, and based on doctors’ recommendations, the victims will be sent to Singapore for advanced treatment.
He made the statement on Tuesday while visiting the National Institute of Burn and Plastic Surgery in Dhaka.
Dr. Sakhawat Hossain spoke with doctors regarding the treatment of the burn victims and gave instructions to ensure proper medical care.
During his visit, he said, “The aircraft involved in the crash was 25 to 30 years old. The government has already begun investigating the exact cause of the accident. If the aircraft’s black box is recovered, we will be able to determine the cause of the crash with certainty. This is one of the most tragic military aircraft accidents in Bangladesh’s history.”
The adviser also stated, “So far, 27 people have died in the accident, 10 of whom were undergoing treatment at the National Institute of Burn and Plastic Surgery.”
Besides, Chief of Air Staff, Air Chief Marshal Hasan Mahmood Khan, has assured all possible support to ensure the best treatment for those injured in the crash at Milestone School and College in Uttara.
He visited the Combined Military Hospital (CMH) and the Burn Institute on Tuesday to observe the medical arrangements and the physical condition of the injured. During the visit, he made the assurance.
Earlier, following the funeral prayer of the deceased pilot, he also emphasized this matter. On that occasion, the Chief of Air Staff urged the public not to pay attention to rumors circulating on social media.
Speaking to reporters, he said that a high-level investigation committee has been formed. “They will investigate what exactly happened, and based on their findings, if there are any faults or errors, we will take necessary action accordingly,” he said.
