DMP arrests 433, files 27 cases

Police file 27 cases and recover narcotics, weapons and other items during regular operations across Dhaka.

Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) arrested 433 people during regular anti-crime operations across the capital in the 24 hours until Friday morning.

Additional Deputy Commissioner (Media and Public Relations) Niaz Mehedi said 27 cases were filed during the period.

The arrests were made by different DMP divisions. Of the total, 27 people were arrested by the Ramna Division, 24 by Lalbagh Division, 36 by Wari Division, 96 by Motijheel Division, 38 by Tejgaon Division, 122 by Mirpur Division, 38 by Gulshan Division and 49 by Uttara Division. The Detective Branch (DB) also made arrests during the drives.

During the operations, police recovered 24.1 kilograms of cannabis, 940 yaba tablets, 30 mobile phones, three knives, an electric shock device, three abandoned bullets, a human hauler and a motorcycle.
Police also rescued one victim during the drives.
Further legal action against the arrested individuals is underway, the DMP official said.
