City Desk :
The Vice-Chancellor (VC) of Dhaka University (DU), Professor Dr. Niaz Ahmed Khan, announced that the university will celebrate ‘Female Student Day’ every year on July 14. This day will honor the important role played by female students during the July mass uprising. He also said that July 17 will be observed annually as ‘Terror Resistance Day’ to remember the brave actions of students who stood against terrorism. The VC made these statements while marking the first anniversary of the July mass uprising at the Raju Memorial Sculpture on the DU campus on Monday.
Dr. Niaz Ahmed Khan added that both of these days will be part of the university’s official calendar.
Paying tribute to all the students who took part in the uprising, he said, “On behalf of DU, we express our deep respect and gratitude to those who came from different parts of the country, including students from private universities, colleges, and Madrasas.”
He highlighted the importance of the movement, saying, “This uprising, led by students and the people, opened new opportunities for us, and we are committed to making the most of them.” “We stood together against terrorism that day,” he added, praising the students for setting an example that inspired the whole nation.
Addressing the students, he said, “Today, seeing your determination brings us great joy and pride.”
The VC encouraged everyone involved in the uprising to become part of the DU community and work together for the country’s progress by standing against division and conspiracies, reports BSS.
