Pintu buried at Azimpur

Staff Reporter :Former MP and BNP’s assistant organising secretary Nasiruddin Ahmed Pintu was buried in the grave of his father at Azimpur Graveyard in Dhaka after his third Namaz-e-Janaza at Hajaribagh Lather Technology Institute ground on Monday after Asr prayers.Family members, relatives, locals and BNP leaders and activists joined the burial of Pintu, the former president of BNP’s student wing Jatiyatabadi Chhatra Dal.Forty-eight year old Nasiruddin Ahmed Pintu, a convict in the DBR carnage case, was “brought dead” to Rajshahi Medical College Hospital (RMCH) from the Rajshahi Central Jail on Sunday noon.His second Namaz-e-Janaza was held in front of BNP’s central office at Nayapaltan in the capital city in the morning, while the first Janaza was held on the premises of Hetemkhan Baro Mosque in Rajshahi on Sunday night.Thousands of BNP leaders and activists joined the Namaz-e-Janaza and paid their last tributes to the BNP leader. BNP standing committee members Barrister Moudud Ahmed, Barrister Jamiruddin Sircar and Brig Gen (retd) ASM Hannan Shah, among others, joined the Janaza of Nayapaltan. After the Janaza, Pintu’s body was taken to his Hazarbagh residence.Talking to reporters before the Janaza, Moudud Ahmed said, “This death is unexpected to us. Pintu was an emerging leader and active organiser.”BNP Chairperson Begum Khaleda Zia, flanked by party men, paid last tribute to Pintu by placing wreath on his coffin before the Namaz-e-Janaza at Nayapaltan. Later, she offered special prayers for the eternal peace of the departed soul. She was weeping in grief.Later, leaders and activists of BNP’s different front organisatins, wearing black badges, also paid their respect to Pintu by placing wreaths separately. A Munajat was also offered seeking salvation of the departed soul.Black flags were hoisted at BNP’s Nayapaltan office and other offices across the country as a mark of expressing grief.Earlier on Sunday night, Pintu’s brother Nasim Ahmed Rintu received the body of his elder brother from the jail authorities after completing necessary formalities, including forensic test of the deceased.The jail authorities said that Pintu died of cardiac arrest, while BNP and Pintu’s family alleged that he was killed in a planned way. Before the burial, Rintu brought the allegation again. “In the report, it was written that my bother felt seek at 12:02 pm, while the doctors declared him dead at 12:10 pm. How it was possible to bring him to RMCH from the Rajshahi jail within only eight minutes. It proved that it was a planned killing,” he said.
