JnU students persist with sit-in protest at Kakrail intersection

NN Online:
Students of Jagannath University (JnU) continued their protest at the Kakrail intersection on Thursday, demanding justice over a police assault and the fulfilment of their three-point demands. As of 9:30 am, at least 50 demonstrators remained at the site.
The ongoing sit-in disrupted vehicular movement through Kakrail junction, leading to significant traffic congestion in the surrounding areas.
Sub-Inspector Abdul Kadir of Ramna Police Station, who was present at the location, said, “Some of them are lying down, some are sitting on the road,” confirming that the blockade was still in effect.
The protesting students have vowed to continue their demonstration until their demands are met.
The protest began around 11:45 am on Wednesday when JnU students and teachers embarked on a long march towards the residence of the Chief Adviser in Jamuna. Along the way, police intercepted them twice. After breaching the second barricade, the crowd was dispersed by tear gas, water cannons, batons, and sound grenades
