BNP-backed DSCC Councillor candidate held

Staff Reporter :Police arrested a councillor candidate for Dhaka South City Corporation (DSCC) from his election campaign in the city’s Hazaribagh area on Friday morning ahead of city polls on April 28.The arrested councillor aspirant was identified as Abul Khayer Bablu, former General Secretary BNP of Ward No. 15 of Dhanmondi thana unit, police said. Hazaribagh Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Kazi Mainul Islam said that Bablu was arrested in the morning.Bablu was facing arrest warrant in a case filed with the police station, said the police official.The SI said, the councillor candidate was also accused in several arson cases with the different police stations in the city, the OC said.
