Ankon, Sohan hit tons: BD ‘A’ defeat NZ ‘A’ in 2nd one-day

Bangladesh ‘A’ Cricket team defeated New Zealand ‘A’ Cricket team by 87 runs in the second one-day match at the Sylhet International Cricket Stadium on Wednesday. By virtue of yesterday’s victory, Bangladesh clichéd the three-match one-day series 2-0.
Earlier, Bangladesh thrashed New Zealand by seven wickets in the first one-day at the same venue on May 5. The third one-day will be held on May 10 at the same venue. Mahidul Islam Ankon notched up a terrific 105. His 108-ball innings was studded with five sixes and seven fours. Nurul Hasan Sohan hit a captain’s knock of 112. His 101-ball knock was laced with seven sixes and seven fours.
Sent into bat first, Bangladesh piled up a satisfactory 344 for the loss of five wickets in the allotted 50 overs and then, all out New Zealand for 257 off 43.1 overs.
Bangladesh had a sorrow start as opener Parvez Hossain Emon (8) was dismissed by Kristian Clarke when Bangladesh’s score was just 12.
Opener Mohammad Naim and Anamul Haque Bijoy repaired the damage contributing together 73 runs for the second wicket partnership before Bijoy was run out by a joint-effort of Josh Clarkson and Mitchell Hay when Bangladesh’s total was 85 for the loss of two wickets.
Bijoy made 39 from 34 deliveries featuring three sixes and three fours.
Naim was dismissed by Adithya Ashok when Bangladesh’s score was 97 for the loss of three wickets.
Naim scored 40 from 41 balls including six fours.
Then, Ankon and Sohan contributed together 225 runs for the fourth wicket partnership before Sohan was dismissed by Clarke when Bangladesh’s total was 322 for the loss of four wickets.
Ankon was dismissed by Zakary Foulkes when Bangladesh’s score was 343 for the loss of five wickets.
Mosaddek Hossain remained unbeaten with 13 runs.
Clarke was the highest wickettaker with two wickets for 71 runs.
Later, Mosaddek Hossain, Shoriful Islam, Shamim Hossain and Tanvir Islam played the key role in demolishing New Zealand innings.
Mosaddek Hossain grabbed three wickets in lieu of 50 runs, while Shoriful Islam, Shamim Hossain and Tanvir Islam bagged two wickets each for 29, 55 and nine runs respectively.
Opener Dale Phillips of New Zealand restored some parity for his country hitting a windy 79. His 54-ball knock was ornamented with 14 fours and two sixes.
