The Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) has initiated an investigation into allegations of corruption against the former assistant private secretary (APS) and personal officer (PO) of two advisers.
Recently, Md Moazzem Hossain, APS to LGRD Adviser Asif Mahmud Shojib Bhuyain, and Tuhin Farabi, PO to Health Adviser Nurjahan Begum, were relieved of their duties following corruption allegations.
Speaking to reporters on Sunday, ACC Director General (Prevention) MdAkhterHossain said, “We will take necessary action against the APS and PO of the two advisers in accordance with the ACC’s laws and regulations.”
“We have received complaints against them and have already started working on the matter.
The ACC’s intelligence unit is conducting the investigation. Progress updates will be shared in due course,” he added.
Earlier in the day, members of Jubo Adhikar Parishad marched from the Jatiya Press Club to the ACC headquarters, demanding an inquiry into the allegations.
They later submitted a memorandum to the commission.
Moazzem Hossain was formally relieved of his duties through a notification issued on April 22, although Asif Mahmud had directed his dismissal earlier, on April 8.
In an interview with a national daily on Friday, Asif called on the ACC to investigate the allegations against his former APS. Earlier, Health Adviser Nurjahan Begum’s PO, Tuhin Farabi, was similarly relieved of his duties following corruption allegations.
