Rizvi demands trial of ‘fascist judges’
Staff Reporter :
BNP Senior Joint Secretary General Ruhul Kabir Rizvi Ahmed on Saturday demanded trial of judges who perpetuated ‘fascism’ in the country.
“Judges are among those who helped establish this fascism. There are countless names, including judges of the court Khairul Haque, Enayetur Rahim and Asaduzzaman. If their trials are ensured, no one will be able to think about doing evil activities in the days to come,” he said.
Rizvi was addressing as the chief guest at a discussion titled ‘6 million accused in false cases of fascism, how far is the release’ at Jatiya Press Club in the capital. Nationalist Research Foundation organized it.
The BNP leader said BNP chief Begum Khaleda Zia who fought tirelessly for the people, suffered severe torture during the Awami League regime.
“Justice Asaduzzaman has kept Khaleda Zia in jail day after day in false cases. He sentenced her. Why will those judges not be punished?” he said.
“We saw in the Nuremberg trials that the judges of Hitler’s court, who decided to burn millions of prisoners at the words of Hitler without listening to any kind of logic, were tried. If they can be tried, why these judges who helped prolong fascism of Sheikh Hasina will not be tried. They must be tried,” he said.
Regarding the cases filed against BNP leaders and activists during the AL tenure, Rizvi said the cases lodged against 6 million leaders and activists are yet to be disposed even after eight months following the fall of Hasina’s government.
“The interim government could have withdrawn the cases if it wanted,” he said, demanding quick disposal of these cases.
