Following the holy Eid-ul-Fitr holidays, Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) Kazi Md Nasir Uddin extended greetings to the officials of the Election Commission Secretariat and stated that all election preparations are progressing smoothly.

The exchange of greetings took place on Sunday.
During the interaction, the CEC emphasized that the Election Commission’s core activities—including the National Identity Card (NID) process, boundary redetermination, and overall election preparations—are advancing without any issues.

The event was attended by the four other election commissioners, the senior secretary of the Election Commission, and various senior officials.

The CEC also praised officials for completing the voter list update process efficiently and within a short period of time.

“You have achieved the impossible. The voter registration work has been completed very quickly. You are doing excellent work, and every step is being reported to the government in a timely manner,” he said.

More than 60 lakh new citizens have been added to the voter list during the ongoing update process. At the same time, over 20 lakh deceased voters have been removed.

According to a recent report by the Election Commission, based on data compiled from field-level officials, a total of 6,087,739 new voters have been added. Among them, 2,859,228 are male, 3,227,775 are female, and 1,055 are Hijra voters.

In contrast, 2,087,036 deceased voters have been removed from the list, including 1,203,315 male, 886,393 female, and 330 Hijra individuals. The removal was confirmed in the EC report signed by Md Abdul Momin Sarkar, Director of the National Identity Registration (NID) Wing.

The voter registration process will continue until April 11. During this time, individuals who have not yet registered can provide their information online and visit a registration center to become voters.
