Sylhet ready to welcome tourists ahead of Eid

The country is going on a record holiday for Eid this year. Tourism officials are expecting at least 1.5 to 2 million tourists to Sylhet to enjoy the joy of Eid during the 9-day public holiday. 80 percent of hotel and motel bookings have already been made. Hoteliers believe that 100 percent bookings will be made before Eid approaches.
In this situation, Sylhet is ready to welcome tourists. In the meantime, the beautification work of the tourist spots has been completed. At the same time, the administration has taken necessary measures for the safety and smooth travel of tourists.
Sylhet, the daughter of nature, is unique to tourists from all over the country. The high and low hills and the rolling tea gardens instantly capture the hearts of tourists. Tourists flock to the tourist centers of Sylhet every year on Eid or various holidays to enjoy such captivating natural scenery.
Some of the tourist attractions in Sylhet are Jaflong, Sada Pathar, Lalakhal, Sreepur, Ratargul, Pantumai, Mayabati Jharna, Jaintia Rajbari, DBir Haor, Bichanakandi, Lovachara, Madhabkund, Cherrapunji, Zakiganj and numerous tea gardens including the three rivers Surma-Kushiyara-Barak estuary.
In addition, the Surma River flowing through the city, Ali Amjad’s clock, Chandnighat stairs, Raja Gaur Gobind’s hill, and the shrines of Hazrat Shahjalal (R) and Hazrat Shahparan (RA) are among them.
Meanwhile, these tourist spots in Sylhet are now being decorated ahead of Eid-ul-Fitr. Beautification work has been completed to attract tourists.
Tourism officials say that this time more tourists will flock to Jaflong, Sada Pathar, Bichanakandi, and Ratargul. Besides, tourists will flock to see various tea gardens in Sylhet. Businessmen are expecting at least 1.5 to 2 million tourists to visit during Eid.
Gowainghat Upazila Executive Officer Ratan Kumar Adhikari said that Jaflong may be an attraction for tourists this time.
We expect that several lakh tourists will visit there as the communication system is better than before. In addition, necessary measures have been taken to ensure the safety of tourists.
Companiganj Upazila Executive Officer Azizunnahar said that the tourist police, police stations and BGB members will work together to ensure the safety of tourists. Separate meetings have been held with transport, ghat leaseholders and photographers of tourist centers in the upazila to ensure that tourists are not harassed. They have been made aware of this.
The Sylhet Chamber of Commerce and Industry President (Acting) Faiz Hasan Ferdaus said that due to the long holiday this Eid, more tourists will visit than in other years. Moreover, with India’s visas closed and the political situation normal, the number of tourists will be higher than in other years. In the meantime, about 80 percent of the hotels and motels have been booked. I hope there will be good business this time.
He said, the way people have flocked to the Eid market this year, it is expected that there will be a business worth hundreds of crores of taka in the Eid market and tourism sector. Even if the weather is favorable, if everything is normal, the business can be even more.
Tourist Police Sylhet Region Police Inspector (Unarmed) Golam Dastagir Ahmed said, the Tourist Police has made all kinds of preparations to ensure the safety of tourists. In addition to the uniformed, the Tourist Police will also be active in plain clothes.
Additional Deputy Commissioner (General) of Sylhet Md. Anwar Uz Zaman said, the administration’s activities have already been increased in the tourist areas. The law enforcement agencies and the Tourist Police will work together to ensure the smooth movement and safety of tourists.
