IIUB English Dept. holds seminar on journalism

A seminar titled “Journalism: Literature in a Hurry” was organised by the English Department of Ishakha International University Bangladesh (IIUB) at its seminar hall in Kishoreganj on Thursday, bringing together distinguished journalists and academicians to discuss the intersection of journalism and literature.

The seminar was attended by Farrukh Khosru, Executive Editor of The New Nation; Mahfuz Ul Hasib Chowdhury, Executive Editor of The Asian Age; and Professor Aziz Ahmed Humayun, Vice Principal of Kishoreganj Government Women’s College. The event was moderated by Jannatul Ferdous Sadiya, a student of the English department.

Teachers of the English department, along with more than a hundred students, actively participated in the discussion. The speakers shed light on the connection between literature and journalism, emphasizing the challenges of the profession and the role of journalists in shaping society. They also addressed various aspects of journalism, highlighting its responsibilities and ethical considerations.

A significant part of the seminar was an interactive question-and-answer session, where students engaged with the journalists, gaining insights from their real-world experiences.

The event was presided over by Assistant Professor Al Morsalin Samrat. Among others, Badrul Huda Sohel, Chairman of the English Department; Assistant Professors Rakibul Hasan and Asma Parvin; and Lecturers Akibuzzaman, Nadia Tandra, and Rafudul Rafi were also present.
