UNO aims to ensure transparency in Savar

Savar Upazila Executive Officer Mohammad Abubakar has set an example by distributing submersible deep tube wells allocated by the government through lottery. Under the safe water supply project, 220 applications were submitted from various people for the installation of submersible deep tube wells allocated in Savar upazila in the fiscal year 2024-2025.

As the number of applicants was high, he selected the beneficiaries through lottery. This decision of the Upazila Nirbahi Officer is highly appreciated in the area. In order to ensure transparency and accountability in Savar Upazila, it was decided to install deep tube wells through lottery.

Upazila Executive Officer Mohammad Abubakar Sarkar said that this decision was taken because the number of applicants in Savar Upazila is more than the allocation. Besides, scrutiny of the application forms shows that almost all those who have applied are eligible to get submersible deep tube wells. But as the amount of allotment was low, everyone was happy that it was decided to award the submersible deep tube well to the person selected through lottery from among the applicants.
