Allegations of document forgery in Sherpur
Police have arrested a businessman named Faruk Ahmed (46) on charges of forging government documents stored at the Sherpur Sadar Sub-Registry Office and amassing assets worth around Tk 6 crore.
It is alleged that the partnership account was changed through forgery on a page of the original document to change the owne rship of valuable land, Babar Filling Station and LPG pump.
Later, an attempt was made to transfer a large part of the property to someone else based on the changed document, the case statement mentioned.
After the incident came to light, serious questions have been raised about the internal security of the Sherpur Sub-Registry Office, the role of officials and employees and the activities of the alleged syndicate.
The victims alleged that if government documents can be changed or forged in collusion with unscrupulous groups, then where is the security of the land and property of the common people?
And this is where the issue of ‘Kalam Gong’ comes to the fore. Will arresting just one person in a serious incident like document forgery solve the real mystery?
If there are others involved behind the scenes, will their identities and roles be revealed in the investigation? If there is a syndicate within the sub-registry office, it is also important to bring those involved under investigation.
Instead of claiming that the allegations against any of those whose names or roles are being alleged, including ‘Kamal Gong’, have been proven, it is now most important to demand the truth to be uncovered through an impartial investigation.
From various information received, it is known that this syndicate is involved in the illegal land trade in Sherpur, and controls the registry office by holding ordinary people hostage and extorting money.
The question arises, will the investigation end with the arrest of one Farooq? Will the real craftsmen behind the scenes come under the law? How will the security of the documents of the sub-registry office be ensured?
The residents of Sherpur Sadar have demanded a fair and impartial investigation to ensure the security of the property of the people of Sherpur and the transparency of government documents.
