In two separate incidents in Narayanganj’s Siddhirganj, a bag containing 2 lakh 80 thousend taka and four mobile phones was snatched from a bKash agent, while a motorcycle was stolen by breaking the lock from under a staircase of a house. The victims reported the incidents to Siddhirganj police on Tuesday.
The snatching incident occurred on Monday night at 11:30 PM in the Hajera Market area of Mizmizi Dakshinpara, and the motorcycle theft happened earlier in the afternoon.
According to reports, the owner of Bismillah Telecom, Md. Jaman, who is a bKash agent, closed his shop at 11:30 PM and was heading home carrying a bag with 2 lakh 80 thousend taka and and four mobile phones. Unidentified robbers attacked him, hit him on the head, and fled with the bag. Upon receiving the news, Sub-Inspector (SI) Md. Elias Hossain visited the scene that night. In a separate incident at 3:00 PM, unidentified thieves stole a motorcycle belonging to one Jamal Hossain Sagar by cutting the lock from under a staircase of his house.
Confirming the receipt of complaints for both incidents, Siddhirganj Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Mohammad Shahinur Alam said, “After the cash-snatching incident, I immediately dispatched a team. Efforts are underway to track the stolen mobile phones along with the cash.
The motorcycle theft is also under investigation.
