Massive fire breaks out in Companiganj
A massive fire broke out at Shahjalal Market in Basurhat Bazar of Companiganj upazila of Noakhali district on Tuesday morning. Several businesses and warehouses in the market were damaged.
Freedom fighter Joynal Abedin (70) and Rana (32) and two others were injured in the incident.
Upon receiving the information, members of the fire service reached the spot and started working to control the fire. The fire was brought under control after a long effort.
Several establishments including Haji Jewelers, Haji Electronics, Haji Gift Corner, Matin Dental Care, National Crockery’s warehouse, a salon, Upahar Store and Fuad Fitness and Gym in Shahjalal Market were damaged in the fire.
According to the initial estimates of the traders, the fire may cause damage of about Tk 10 to 1.5 crore. However, the actual extent of the damage will be known after the investigation and assessment.
The injured Zainal Abedin is 70 years old and the other person named Rana is 32 years old. Details on how they were injured were not immediately known.
Initially, it is believed that the fire started from an electrical short circuit. However, the actual cause of the fire will be confirmed after the investigation.
