2 persons including the driver were killed and 2 others were injured when a speeding paddy laden Nasiman (a battery run 3-wheeler) collided with a heap of stones piled on Khulna-Mongla Highway and it was overturned on the Highway near at Foilahat Bazar under Mongla Upazila in Bagerhat district on Thursday in the early hours (at 4 am).
It was confirmed by Kazi Shaiduzzaman, Media Cell Officer of Bagerhat district police.
The deceased are Rokon Uddin Shaikh (60), son of one late Wazed Ali Shaikh of village Sonailtala under Mongla Upazila in Bagerhat district and Didar Molla (32), son of one Zafar Molla hailed from Banishanta under Dakop Upazila in Khulna district. The injured persons could not be identified till the writing of this report.
Anisur Rahman, Officer-in-charge of Mongla PS told, in the early hours of Thursday the ill-fated Nasiman (3-wheeler) loaded with paddy was going from Mongla towards Foilahat Bazar and when it reached Gasir Mor (turn) near at Foilahat Bazar collided with the heap of stones and it was overturned. As a result, the driver was killed on the spot and 3 were injured one seriously. They were recovered from there and admitted to Mongla Upazila Health Complex. But seriously injured person succumbed to his injuries on his way to the hospital. In this connection a case registered with Mongla PS and the deceased were sent to Bagerhat Sadar Hospital for autopsy.
