DoE fines 3 steel mills for pollution in N’ganj

The Department of Environment conducted an operation in Sonargaon, Narayanganj, to combat air pollution, imposing fines totaling 3,30,000 Taka on three steel mills.
The operation, led by Executive Magistrate and Senior Assistant Secretary Rezwan-ul-Islam from the Monitoring and Enforcement Wing of the Department of Environment, took place on Thursday, December 9. The team included officials from the Narayanganj District Police and the Department of Environment’s Narayanganj office.
Assistant Director of the Department of Environment, Md. Rasel Mahmud, filed the prosecutions during the operation. A press release issued by the Deputy Director of the Narayanganj District Office, A.H.M. Rased, confirmed the details later in the afternoon.
