DUJ New Nation unit: Noman chief, Shemul deputy

Journalists Md Mosharef Hossain Sikdar (Noman Mosharef) and Md Shemul Hasan have been elected as unit chief and deputy unit chief, respectively, of the newly formed The New Nation unit of the Dhaka Union of Journalists (DUJ).
The unit was formed at a general meeting held at its office with Md Mokarram Hossain, editor of The New Nation, presiding over the event on Sunday.
Rafique Mohammad, Vice-president of DUJ, and Md Anawarul Hoque (Gazi Anowar), executive member of the DUJ, attended the meeting as chief and special guests, respectively.
In his speech, Mokarram Hossain said that forming a unit in The New Nation had been a long-standing demand, which was finally fulfilled on Sunday.
He said The New Nation had been deprived of government facilities for the past 15 years due to its stance against the fascist regime.
He expressed hope that the newly formed committee would work to secure journalists’ rights.
Kamruzzaman Bablu, Noman Mosharef, The New Nation Executive Editor Farrukh Khosru, Rafique Mohammad and Gazi Anowar also spoke at the meeting among others.
