Mongla dwelling house gutted

A dwelling house belonging to one Golam Rasul (30), a poor day labourer hails near from Water Project at Makoedon area within Ward No.01 under Mongla Pourashava, Mongla Upazila in Bagerfhat district was gutted completely with its all belongings when it caught fire at the night of Monday (Dec.9) at 2 am, according to a report received here.
An eye-witness named one Barek Talukdar told, the fire originated from a burning oven in the kitchen spread to the dwelling house and engulfed it within minutes. On seeing the flame of the fire a number of locals rushed to spot and brought the fire under control after a long fighting for one hour. But in spite of that the dwelling house with its all belongings was burnt to ashes. As a result, poor Golam Rasul and his seven family members were rendered homeless and they are now living under the open sky.
It is learnt that a t the nght fire-victim Golam Rasul and his family members went to one of their relatives’ residence to pay a visit to there. Afia Sharmin, UNO (Upazila Nirbahi Officer), Mongla visited the place of occurrence and assured the fire victims to help according to her capacity.
