Son held for allegedly killing mother in Pirojpur
A man has been accused of killing his mother by hitting her on the head with a wooden stick following an argument over cooking rice in Kaukhali upazila of Pirojpur.
The deceased as Kanan Bala, 65, wife of late Sunil Bala is a resident of Ward No. 2 of Sialkathi Union in the upazila.
Police arrested her son, Sujon Bala, 30, in connection with the incident. He was produced before a court on Tuesday (August 18) afternoon, which ordered that he be sent to jail.
Kaukhali Police Station Inspector (Investigation) Ebad Ali confirmed the matter. He said the accused was arrested based on a complaint filed by the deceased’s brother.

According to the complaint, Sujon got into an argument with his mother over cooking rice at around 10:30pm on Saturday (August 15). After arguing for about two hours, Sujon allegedly became angry and hit his mother on the head with a wooden stick attached to a door at around 12:30am on Sunday.
On Sunday morning, Sujon allegedly found his mother lying in a pool of blood. He then called neighbours and relatives, who rescued Kanan Bala and took her to Kaukhali Upazila Health Complex.
