One found dead on Sylhet border

The body of a Bangladeshi man has been recovered from the border area of Companiganj in Sylhet.

The deceased, Ashraf Uddin, 65, was the son of the late Shamsuddin of Bhatarai village in Companiganj Upazila.

Resident Fakhr Uddin said that the body was recovered near pillar No. 1251 in the Kalairag border area.

Companiganj Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Uzair Al Mahmud said the police went to the spot after being informed by the Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB).

The body was found on the Indian side of the border.
A flag meeting between the BGB and India’s Border Security Force (BSF) is underway to facilitate the handover of the body.

Law enforcement suspects the Bangladeshi man may have been shot by Indian Khasias.
BGB said the man could have been fatally injured by Indian Khasias while gathering firewood.
