Nahid Rana claims 5/61: Tigers sniff victory

Right-arm pacer Nahid Rana claimed his maiden five-wicket haul as the Tigers smelt the victory after skittled out the Caribbeans for 146 in the first innings on the Day 3 play of the second Test cricket match at the Sabina Park in Jamaica of West Indies on Monday. Nahid Rana bowled really well and finished his spell as 18-1-61-5.

Bangladesh were at the stumps at 193/5.
Earlier, Bangladesh were all out for 164 in the first innings on the second day (Saturday).
Bangladesh led by 211 runs.

West Indies resumed their first innings with the over-night score of 70 for the loss of one wicket.
Kraigg Brathwaite and Keacy Karty resumed their first innings with the over-night score of 33 and 19 runs respectively.

Brathwaite could add more six runs as he was caught at the gully by substitute Zakir Hasan off Nahid Rana when the Caribbeans’ total was 85 for the loss of two wickets.

Nahid Rana struck again as Kavem Hodge (3) was caught behind by wicketkeeper Litton Das off the right-arm pacer when the hosts’ score was 94 for the loss of three wickets.

Alick Athanaze (2) was bowled out by Taskin Ahmed when West Indies’ total was 100 for the loss of four wickets.

Jastin Greaves (2) was bowled out by Taijul Islam when the home side’s score was 105 for the loss of five wickets.

Jashua Da Silva (5) was trapped leg before wicket by Hasan Mahmud when West Indies total was 114 for the loss of six wickets.

Keacy Karty (40) was caught behind by Litton Das off Hasan Mahmud when the hosts’ score was 117 for the loss of seven wickets.

Nahid Rana struck again as Alzarri Joseph (7) was caught at the mid-off by Mehidy Hasan Miraz off the right-arm pacer when the Windies’ total was 123 for the loss of eight wickets.

Shamar Joseph (6) was trapped leg before wicket by Miraz when the home side’s score was 136 for the loss of nine wickets.

Nahid Rana fulfilled his five-wicket haul as Kemar Roach (8) was trapped leg before wicket by right-arm pacer when West Indies’ first innings came to an end.

Hasan Mahmud bagged two wickets in the space of 19 runs, while Taskin, Miraz and Taijul Islam took one wicket apiece.

Bangladesh had a disastrous start as opener Mahmudul Hasan Joy (0) was caught at the second slip by Athanaze off Jayden Seales when the touring side’s total was naught.

Shadman Islam and Shahadat Hossain mended the innings contributing together 47 runs in the second wicket stand before Shahadat Hossain (28) was caught at the mid-off by Seales off Alzarri Joseph when the visitors’ score was 47 for the loss of two wickets.

After Shahadat’s dismissal, Shadman and Miraz repaired the damage adding together 70 runs for the third wicket partnership before Shadman Islam was caught behind by Joshua Da Silva off Shamar Joseph when the Tigers’ total was 117 for the loss of three wickets.
Shadman made 46 from 82 deliveries featuring seven fours.

After Shadman’s departure, Miraz was caught behind by Joshua Da Silva off Shamar Joseph when Bangladesh’s score was 132 for the loss of four wickets.

Miraz scored 42 from 39 balls with seven fours. Litton Das (25) was bowled out by Greaves when the tourists’ total was 173 for the loss of five wickets.

Jaker Ali was on 29 and Taijul Islam was on 9 before the bails were drawn for the third day.
