Security beef ups in Delhi: Breach of BD HC in Agartala regrettable: MEA

The Indian government has deeply regretted for the incident of the breach of the premises at the Bangladesh High Commission (HC) in Agartala on Monday.

The Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) in a statement further stated that the Indian government is stepping up security arrangements for the Bangladesh High Commission in New Delhi and the Deputy or Assistant High Commissions in the country.

“Diplomatic and consular properties should not be targeted under any circumstances,” the statement added.

The incident of breaching the premises of Bangladesh High Commission in Agartala took place when thousands of people brought out a massive rally in the Tripura capital protesting the arrest of ISKON leader Chinmoy Krishna Das, demanding his release.

Following the incident, MEA said that under any circumstance the premises of the diplomatic and consular properties should not be targeted.

According to Indian media reports, the Hindu Sangharsh Samity, an affiliate of the Vishwa Hindu Parishad, brought out the protest rally.

Following the arrest of Chinmoy Das over sedition charges, several groups of Hindus are protesting in front of the High Commission of Bangladesh.

Even on last Thursday protesters under the Bongio Hindu Jagaran Manch in Kolkata staged demonstration and reportedly set fire on the national flag of Bangladesh over the issue of the arrest of Chinmoy Das.

The demonstrations in front of the Bangladeshi High Commissions and Consular offices have created much concern of security.

Now the Indian government deeply regretted over such issue and urged their people to refrain from any sort transgression into the premises of Bangladeshi High Commissions and its Consular offices.
