1 killed in Morrelganj wall collapse

A man was killed and two others were injured as a wall collapsed during the construction of a septic tank adjacent to an under-construction madrasa building in Morrelganj upazila of Bagerhat on Saturday.

The incident occurred at Gulishakhali Fazil Madrasa in Nishanbaria Union around noon.

The deceased, Atiar Rahman, was the son of Badar Uddin of Lebukhali village under Kotwali Police Station in Jashore district.

Injured worker Maminur Rahman said the wall suddenly collapsed under pressure from the soil outside.

Md Mahmudur Rahman, officer-in-charge of Morrelganj Police Station, said several workers were constructing a septic tank amid rain and muddy conditions when a side wall collapsed. As a result, all three workers became trapped in the water. Atiar Rahman died, while the other two managed to escape, he said. Three workers were engaged in the construction work at the time.
