Imrul Kayes announces retirement from Test cricket

Prolific opener of Bangladesh Cricket team Imrul Kayes announced on Wednesday he will retirement from Test cricket.
He wrote in a message on Wednesday, “Ending my Test Career, Thank you, to all my fans for showing their love and support always!”
Imrul Kayes played his last Test cricket match against India at Eden Gardens in Kolkata in 2019. It was a Day/Night affairs and a pink-ball Test match. After that match, Imrul Kayes was not included in any squad of Bangladesh. He did not get chance to play Test match, ODI match and T20I match for the Tigers.
He complained several times that the selectors of the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) did not give him opportunity to play in any format (Test, ODI, T20I). So, Imrul Kayes did not wait anymore and he announced his retirement from Test cricket. He wrote on his Facebook, ” I shall formally bid good-bye from Test cricket after playing the fifth round match of the National Cricket League on November 16. I shall also announcement my formal retirement from NCL on the same day.”
The 37-year-old opener made his debut in November of 2008. He scored 1797 runs playing 39 Test matches. He hit three centuries and notched up four half-centuries. His average was 24.28.
He scored 7930 runs playing 137 First Class matches. He 20 centuries and made 27 half-centuries. His average is 33.74.
He is now playing for Khulna Division in the ongoing National Cricket League. He scored 86 (not out), 71, 46, 13 and naught.
His fifth round match of the NCL match against Dhaka Division will start on November 16. In that match, he will formally announce his retirement from Test cricket and also First Class cricket.
