Syria win in AFC U-23 Qualifiers

Tournament favourite Syria continued their winning streak in the AFC U-23 group E 2016 Qualifiers with a comfortable 4-0 goal win over ten-man India in their second group match held on Sunday at the Bangabandhu National Stadium.
With the day’s victory, Syria now has six points from two matches while India is yet to secure any points from the same number of outings.
Syria took the early lead in the 15th minute with a superb one touch show. The left back Mouilad Al Ajjan initiated the move at the left flank, Amro Jeniat, the winger cut the ball back to midfielder Nassouh Nakhdali at the top of the box, Nakhdali pushed the ball to forward Mahmoud al Mawas who placed the ball into the far post net (1-0).
India tried to fight back in the 39th minute, but Germanpreet Singh saw his 20 yards powerful shot missed the Syrian crosspiece.
However, the lead was doubled in the 45th minute as Omar Kharbin headed the ball home with a neat cross of Nassouh Nakhdali (2-0).
After the lemon break, Indian forward Jayesh Dilip Rane saw his 25 yards shot went out of ground after kissing the Syrian crosspiece in the 60th minute.
But, Syria had to wait a little as they further widened the margin in the very next counter attack as Mahmoud al Mawas paved the way for Omar Kharbin, who placed the ball at the top of the six yard box (3-0).
India was reduced to ten men in the 70th minute as defender Shankar was shown direct red card.
Mahmoud al Mawas scored his second goal and fourth for Syria in the 81st minute with a header utilizing on a cross from Omro al Midani (4-0).
Earlier, Syria beat hosts Bangladesh by 4-0 in the first match while India lost to Uzbekistan by 0-2 goal, both at their respective opening matches.
