BSMMU authority's plot: Dr Atiar seeks unsettled promotion, posting

Doctor Md. Atiar Rahman, a pediatrics’ diseases specialist, who is extremely deprived from his rights followed by long plots of Awami League (AL) administration of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University (BSMMU).

As per ill motive, a vested quarter of the varsity management made a trap to create different lairs of obstacles targeting the bright career of the doctor in the future. They also sentimentality attempted to bar for his higher studies, related examinations, promotions and desired posting in working arena.

The cohorts of the AL backed supervision body tactfully made him failure for the course examination of Doctor of Medicine (MD) in seven times. Also, they did not allow him another MD at Dhaka Shishu Hospital and intentionally tried to transfer him another work place. In these circumstances, doctor Atiar sought the dues, promotion and posting immediately, said the papers and concerned.

According to documents, Dr. Atiar Rahman joined as honorary assistant professor at BSMM in 14 November 2006, and he did not get a single promotion from the post about 18 years. Although he deserved to regular assistant professor that they year of 2008.

But in was deprived of regular promotions for about 18 years since last August. Before joining the assistant professor, Dr Atiar Rahman joined to IPGM&R as a medical officer in the pediatric department on November 18 in 1996. Later he was transferred to the same department as Assistant Registrar on April 1998 by violating the provisions of medical university.

But, luckily the motive has gone in vain for autonomous rules of BSMMU. However, Dr Atiar Rahman joined as consultant in the university in 2001 after achieve the higher study on children from DCH (Shishu) in 1999.

He also did not allow to join higher study for MD (Pediatric) course by the one motivated group in 2002.

In the same year, Dr Atiar Rahman got the chance for MD (pediatric) and passed two subjects out of the three under the part-1 without any disturbance.

After sensing the future of Dr Atiar Rahman, the gang made trap to confirm the failure for the remaining subject.

Unfortunately, Atiar Rahman fall into the trap of BMA leaders and failed in the examinations seven times that proved the trap as conspiracy against Dr Atiar Rahman. But he passed the part-2 in 2006.

On the other hand, Dr Atiar Rahman passed the FCPS part-1 through the admission in 2002, and took part the examination for the FCPS part-2 between 2006 and 2022. He did pass in written examination smoothly while he did not pass in the viva voice apart from conspiracy of politically opposition platform.

Their ill activities against doctor Atiar Rahman was randomly run till ousted of Awami League since August 5 this year. He also served medical support to the anti-quota movement with several hundreds physicians under his leadership.

Dr Atiar Rahman told The New Nation, “I also barred to admit in MD course in 2002 and government backed administration transferred me to the post of assistant registrar as an attempt not to keep me in this university. But according to the University Ordinance 1998, a person can continue in the university in the same condition, unless he applies for transfer elsewhere.”

He said, “I am working as a honorary assistant professor in the department of pediatric gastroenterology in this university since November 14, 2006. I joined government service through the 11th BCS (Health) Assistant Surgeon on since April 1 1993.

Later, on November 18 in 1996, I joined the then IPGM&R as a medical officer in the children’s department’.

Dr Atiar said, they did not give any chance to him to pass the FCPS part-2 by forcibly fail in viva course, Besides, MDD course is a 2-3 years professional medical course while thet made me fail in seven times. However, I was deprived of the opportunity for about 24 years since 2002. In these circumstances, I became mentally disturbed. Even my 3 children who are doctors, feel sorry for me and prevent me from appearing for the exam considering my physical condition. But I didn’t stop, I wanted to continue my education for higher degree.’
