Durga Puja is being performed at Maubari Temple in Ishwardi, Pabna for about one and a half hundred years. Earlier this temple was known as Sarat Kali temple.
Over time it is now known as Maubari Durga Temple in many parts of the country apart from Pabna district. This is now the central temple of Ishwardi. On Tuesday (October 8) at around 10 pm, the Durga idol was seated in the Amrita Yoga temple.
The location of this temple is in Shail Para Ward No. 1 of the municipal area. There is no Hindu community in the vicinity of the temple. Locals from other areas of the city manage this temple. The surrounding Muslim community maintains and looks after the temple. So far the locals have not scratched the temple. Everyone celebrates autumn Durga Puja in Miremish.
Goddess Durga of this temple is believed to be awakened by all. Everyone thinks that if you make a wish to the Mother Goddess, it will be fulfilled. That’s why during the puja devotees dedicate gold and silver ornaments, pigeons, birds and many other materials to Goddess Durga.
Not only Hindu devotees, some people from Muslim community also donate these items. A long tradition of the temple is to sacrifice lambs. 50-70 goats are sacrificed here every year on Navami Tithi.
The priest of the temple, Raghunath Sannal, said that in other temples, Goddess Durga is worshiped in mortal form with her children Lakshmi, Swaraswati, Kartik and Ganesha, but the goddess of this temple is worshiped in the form of 22 puppets. Above all is Goddess Ganga, below her is Shiva. Also the avatars who came in Satya, Dapara, Treta and Kali Yuga are also worshiped along with the Goddess. Devotees come here not only from the locals but also from far away.
He also said that this time the Puja Tithi is an exception. Saptami-Ashtami, Ashtami-Nabami and Nabami-Dashmi fall on the same day. That’s why the worship will be one day less this time. That is Saturday (October 12) Navami ends early in the morning, Bijoya Dashami will begin. This day is supposed to be empty.
