2 killed in Khulna separate incidents

Two young men were shot and killed in separate incidents in the Labonchora area of Khulna city on Wednesday evening, triggering panic among residents.

Police said Nazmul, 19, was shot and hacked to death in the Shishu Bagan-Ashi Bigha area under Labonchora Police Station at around 9:45pm. His blood-soaked body was later found at the scene.

Earlier, at around 5:45pm, Md Monzurul Islam, 22, was stabbed and shot dead near the Ashi Bigha area of Harintana under the same police station.

The two killings took place within about four hours, causing concern among local residents.
Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Labonchora Police Station under Khulna Metropolitan Police (KMP) Syed Mosharef Hossain confirmed the incidents and told The New Nation that police were making efforts to arrest those involved.

According to police and local residents, Nazmul, son of Monir Hossain, was found dead in the Shishu Bagan area. Police said they had launched an operation to identify and arrest those responsible for the killing.

In the other incident, police and locals said Monzurul had an altercation with a group of people over a football match at a sand field in Harintana’s Ashi Bigha area. Later, the group allegedly attacked him near the Ashi Bigha culvert, stabbing him in the abdomen and shooting him in the left leg.

Local residents rescued Monzurul and took him to Khulna Medical College Hospital, where doctors declared him dead.
