20-party brings out processions in several parts of country

The BNP-led 20-party alliance on Monday brought out processions at different parts of the capital city and across the country in support of the countrywide 72-hour hartal and the non-stop blockade programme.
Leaders and activists of BNP and Jamaat-e-Islami brought out a procession at Mogbazar in the city in the morning. BNP leader Tofazzal Hossain and Jamaat leader Zillur Rahman led the procession.
Jatiyatabadi Chhatra Dal (JCD), the student wing of the BNP, brought out a procession from in front of the Shishu Park in the morning. Police dispersed the procession when it reached Matshya Bhaban area. The JCD men also brought out two separate processions from Shahbagh and Central Shaheed Minar areas in the afternoon. The procession starting from Shahbagh ended at Katabon while the procession starting from the Shaheed Minar ended at Palashi intersection. Leaders and workers of Dhaka University and BUET units of the organisation took part in the processions.
Islami Chhatra Shibir, the student wing of the Jamaat-e-Islami, brought out
processions at Uttara and Mohakhali in the morning. The Shibirmen also brought out processions in Comilla, Naogaon, Faridpur, Gazipur, Khulna, Mymensingh and some other parts of the country.
Police arrested seven leaders and workers of the 20-party alliance from a procession in Khulna. The procession was brought out from Notun Bazar area in the city. Khulna city Juba Dal president Shafiqul Islam Tuhin, Khelafat Majlis General Secretary Maulana Nasir Uddin and BJP general secretary Sirajul Islam Sentu were arrested.
The BNP-Jamaat men clashed with police in Dinajpur, police barred a planned rally in front of Dinajpur Training Institute in the morning. At least five people were injured in the clash while four others were arrested. Mahila Dal, the woman body of the BNP, brought out a procession in Comilla city in support of the hartal and blockade.
