Defaulters can repay loans within 3yrs with 10pc down payment

Defaulters can repay loans within three years by making a down payment of up to 10% under the central bank’s new “Exit Policy”.
In a circular on Monday, the Bangladesh Bank has directed managing directors of all scheduled banks to implement the policy.
This is the first time the central bank has come up with such a policy for banks to provide “exit facilities” to collect debt.
In this new policy, any regular customer or defaulting customer will get the facility for a maximum period of three years with a 10% down payment.
According to the Bangladesh Bank circular, many customers fail to repay their loans or tend to default due to factors beyond their control or adverse financial conditions.
Through this new policy, banks can repay loans with various facilities at once. Or, the bank-customer can pay in multiple instalments within a maximum period of three years, the central bank said.
