3 to die for killing elderly couple in Chuadanga

A Chuadanga court on Tuesday sentenced three people to death for killing an elderly couple in 2022.

The condemned convicts are-Shahabul Haque, 24, son of Bazlur Rahman, Rajib hossain, 25, son of Pintu Rahman, Bidyut Ali, 23, son of Masud Ali of Alamdanga upazila.

Judge Masud Ali of the Chuadanga Additional District and Session Judge Court-2 handed down the punishment and fined Tk 20,000, each.

The court also sentenced Shakil Hossain, 23, son of Tahaz Uddin to two years imprisonment in the case.

According to the prosecution, the convicts entered into the house of Najir Mia, breaking open the door in a bid to loot valuables at Old Bazarpara in Alamdanga municipality area on September 23, 2022.

Najir and his wife Farida Khatun were asleep at the house at that time.

At one stage, they took Najir to the washroom of the house and slit his throat after tying his hands and legs with rope.
