Adori’s success may inspire many

Adori Rani Das (35) is a woman of a very impoverished family of 5 members where the other members are physically challenged for work. But the family did not want to survive on the husband’s income alone. Raising chickens and cultivating small vegetables create an opportunity to them to maintain their daily life.
However, once some members of Rajpur Village Development Team started selecting some marginal poor, helpless, distressed, widows and backward people to support them economically. A 25-member team was formed in Rajpur village with the helpless people. Members are included in various activities like training on family nutrition garden, livestock rearing and confidence twice a month. The members then were able to meet their vegetable needs by growing more vegetables at home. After 6 months, 25 people were given a weanling calf to raise multiple sustainable incomes apart from growing vegetables.
All the members involved in the project are very happy to receive the baby calf. Adori and her family members were also very happy especially the disabled girl Chayanika Das (15) became very happy to get the cow. They started nurturing the calf like a new member of their family. Since then multiple sources of income have gradually increased. Adori Das continued to hold various awareness and income-generating trainings. Since then they needed not to look back.
At present, Adori has 3 cows worth Tk. 150,000. Before that she sold two calves and gave a semi-furnished house where the whole family is now living very happily and peacefully. Also, there are goats for meat production, the estimated value of which is Tk. 12, 0000. There are chickens, which meet their nutritional needs. They also sell them in the market. The price of 5 ducks and 4 chickens is around 4000 Tk which they earn very occasionally by selling.
Adori now operates a DPS of Tk. 2000 per month. Adori’s family is now living a very comfortable life despite paying for their children’s education cost. Being recognized as a successful person in the battle, now Adori is known as a member of wealthy family.
