Nilphamari elder brother kills junior

A younger brother named Awkat Hossain Jewel (17) was killed by his elder brother in Kishoreganj of Nilphamari. This incident took place in Kuti Para village of Ronchandi Union on Tuesday, March 5. After the incident, the accused brother Mehedi (28) tried to commit suicide by drinking poison and is under treatment at Upazila Health Complex under police guard.
Deceased Awkat Hossain Jewel is the younger son of deceased Abdur Jalil of that village and a 12th standard student of Ronchandi School and College.
According to local residents and relatives of the deceased, Barabhai Mehdi had a little mental balance problem. He used to get into trouble with everyone at home Last night he went to sleep with his younger brother. Later in the morning, his mother got up to pray and heard noises from her son’s room. After the incident, the accused elder brother tried to commit suicide by drinking poison and the locals rescued him and took him to the hospital. Later the police came and recovered the body and sent it to the morgue.
Kishoreganj Police Officer-in-Charge (OC) Palash Chandra Mondal confirmed the matter and said that elder brother Mehedi Hasan has been arrested in this incident. Elder brother Mehedi Hasan is undergoing treatment at the hospital. The body will be handed over to the family after legal proceedings.
