Mango trees sprouting fast in C’nawabganj

At the rising of temperature, the mango trees of the district have been sprouting fast as about 60 percent trees have blossomed, Department of Agriculture Extension (DAE) office said.
The DAE officials expect that 80 percent mango trees will blossom and they also expect a good yield of mangoes this year if the weather remains favourable.
Deputy Director of DAE Saiful Islam said, about 60 percent mango trees have already bloomed and rest sprouting is expected by the next week of the month.
He further added that favourable weather, timely rainfall and less dropping of mangoes are important for a good yield of mangoes.
Farmers have already started taking extensive preparations, care and measures so that the mango could grow massively. They have been taking all possible cares like spraying insecticides and fungicides on the trees from the beginning of the season with the hope to have good bloom.
DAE office sources said, there are 18,58,000 fruit-giving mango trees of different varieties on 24,250 hectares of land in the district. The area of the mango orchards along with the number of trees has increased in the district. Last year, the number of mango trees was 17,82, 930 on 23,280 hectares of land.
