Govt to construct 1,046 more community clinics

The government would construct 1,046 more community clinics to provide healthcare services to the common people across the country.
State Minister for Health and Family Welfare Zahid Malek said this in the House while replying to a question from treasury bench member Mir Mostaque Ahmed Robi on Wednesday.
He said the government has a target of setting up 13,861 community clinics across the country for providing healthcare services to the rural people including poor women.
“We have already constructed 12,815 community clinics, which are giving healthcare services to the grassroots patients,” the state minister informed the House.
Besides, the government subject to availability of land would also construct a clinic in every old ward, Malek added.
Replying to another question from treasury bench member Selim Uddin, the state minister said currently all upazila hospitals have basic emergency midwifery services and 132 upazila hospitals coordinated emergency midwifery services.
Besides, the government has a plan to bring 10 new upazilas under coordinated emergency midwifery services, he added.
