SAFF U-19 Women's Champ: BD U-19,India U-19 joint-champions

Bangladesh Under-19 Women’s Football team and India Under-19 Women’s Football team emerged as the joint-champions of the South Asian Football Federation (SAFF) Under-19 Women’s Championship at the Bir Shreshtha Shaheed Shipahi Mostafa Kamal Stadium in the capital’s Kamalapur on Thursday.
India Under-19 Football team scored their first goal in the early eighth minute. Shibani of India got a through from her teammate Nitu. Then, Bangladesh goalie Sorna Rani advanced but she failed to restrict Shibani. Thus, Shibani made no mistake to put the ball into the blank net by a placing shot.
India led the first half 1-0.
After the interval, Sagorika of Bangladesh equalised the margin by an angular shot just at the dying moment.
As the result of the ninety-minute match ended in a 1-1 draw, thus the match turned into the tie-breaker. The result of the tie-breaker was 5-5. As the fate of the tie-breaker ended in a 5-5 goals draw, the match turned into sudden death. In the sudden death, the result of that segment ended in a 6-6 draw.
After the sudden death phase, the referee decided the fate by toss. India won in the toss and the referee declared that the India clinched the title. But later, the Match Referee arrived at the pitch and said that the decision was not correct as per by-laws. Thus, the players of India left the field. Players of Bangladesh stayed at the field.
Later, the Match Referee announced that Bangladesh and India are the joint-champions of the gala football meet for the age group football competition for the women of South Asian Region.
